I 100 album del decennio per NME

Tempo di classifiche di fine anno anche per NME, la prestigiosa -e controversa- rivista britannica. Votata dalla redazione e da una selezione di musicisti e addetti ai lavori, arriva la classifica dei 100 migliori album del decennio che sta per finire. Tra i giurati: gli Arctic Monkeys, Carl Barat, i The Killers, Jarvis Cocker, Pete Doherty, gli Elbow, Johnny Marr, gli MGMT, Ian Brown, i The Big Pink, Snoop Dogg, Alan McGee, gli Yeah Yeah Yeahs e molti altri.

Qualche sorpresa. Un gruppo inglese (i Libertines) è stato scalzato dal podio da un gruppo statunitense. Curioso infatti siano proprio gli Strokes a farla da padroni, con un disco sicuramente influente, ma forse inferiore a molti altri. Singolare il terzo posto dei Primal Scream con un album molto bello ma certo non ‘facile’. Meritatissimo il quarto posto degli Arctic Monkeys: qualche posizione in più forse sarebbe spettata poi a Interpol e Arcade Fire, protagonisti di una vera e propria ‘nuova ondata’ qualche anno fa.   incredibile come nelle prime posizioni ci sia absolution dei muse ma non ci sia origins of sommetry (2001). E notare anche che non ci sono nemmeno Placebo, Coldplay, gli editors, kasabian e il primo dei bravery. Secondo me meritavano. Manca anche Beautiful Garbage…insomma ci sono di dischi che mancano nelle prime 10 posizioni!

  Sono rimasto anche io sorpreso nel vedere un gruppo americano in cima, però considerando che si parla dell’ultimo decennio loro hanno tenuto in considerazione il fatto che questo particulare album degli Strokes ha, volenti o nolenti, influenzato tutto il movimento indie rock venuto dopo di loro!
