Nel Regno Unito godono di molta fama gli Ivor Novello Awards, premi intitolati all’artista britannico scomparso nel 1951 ed assegnati annualmente ai migliori compositori e scrittori musicali.

E’ andata in scena a Londra l’edizione numero 54 della rassegna e a trionfare -come già avvenuto mesi addietro nell’altro premio di qualità inglese, il Mercury Prize- sono stati gli Elbow: il gruppo di Guy Garvey si è portato a casa due statuette nelle categorie “Best Contemporary Song” e “Best Song Musically & Lirically”. Tra gli altri premiati i Ting Tings per l’album, i Coldplay per la canzone britannica più venduta, e ancora Duffy e Vince Clark.
