Ciao Johan, come stai?

Licenzierei Lars Ulrich!

Amaranthe: a personality test with Johan Andreassen

Amaranthe is coming to town. The six-piece Swedish band (of which three are singers) will introduce the italian audiences to their new album, Massive Addictive, on April 2 at the Live Club in Trezzo (Milano). In the wait, we got in touch with bassist Johan Andreassen for a tour update and a personality test…

Hi there! How are you doing? How is the tour doing?

So far so good 😉 No…seriously it has been awesome so far and everything is going really good so no complaints at all from my part!

Your concert in Milan is getting closer, it will be on April 2nd, while Massive Addictive has been out for 5 months now. But what would you suggest to a fan with a limited budget: better spend the money on the concert, or on the cd?

I would definitely advise to go and see the concert first of all…. The experience will outlive the cd!

On Massive Addictive it seems like each song is mainly “owned” by one of the singers, whereas in the past all three would sing equally on each song. How does this translate in the live show? Do the other two singers take a step back and relax a bit, while the “main one for the song” is doing his part?

The one who is in focus is the one who has the focus on stage as well….it only comes natural!

You’re on tour with Engel, a band offering a pretty different kind of metal than yours. How are audiences reacting to this different approach to music?

Actually it works really good and the audience is really into it all…and also Santa Cruz is adding some of their magic as well…so the audience is really getting something from all sides and I haven’t really seen or heard that anyone doesn’t like the whole package!!

Now, let’s move on to our personality test!

What one thing do you do better than any other guy in the band?

Grow a beard and thinking!

Which album have you listened to more than any other?

Any pearl jam or foo fighters album!

How do you classify your cd collection? By name, band, date, label… what else?

By name…when I had a cd-collection that is!

When have you been most starstruck?

One time when I ran into Dave Grohl in Stockholm….super cool and sweet dude!!

What’s the best thing about your hometown?

Gothenburg is a prettyb larg cifty(second biggest in Sweden) but it really has a down to earth smalltown mentality to it! And as long as my hometown ain’t Stockholm that’s always a good thing 😀

Why is metal the most important musical style ever invented by man?

Because it fucking rocks!!!!! Let the aggresions out and it’s plain good old fun to go and get smashed in a metal show!!

What would be the title of your biography?

WHEN SHIT HITS THE FAN!

What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and you were James Hetfield?

Fire Lars Ulrich!

Johan’s photo comes from the Amaranthe Facebook page, where the bass player is master of all pics!
