Di solito si parla di Pete Doherty soprattutto per gli eccessi, la vita malsana, i gossip e le stranezze da rockstar. L’ultima che ha combinato (questa volta in positivo!) è successa l’altra sera quando con i suoi Babyshambles è entrato in un pub londinese e insieme hanno tenuto un concerto a sorpresa per la quarantina di casuali avventori presenti, divertendosi a suonare pezzi propri ma non solo.
Tolto tutto il contorno, a me la musica di Doherty piace molto. L’ultimo album dei Babyshambles per esempio trovo che sia davvero forte. Così mi fa piacere scoprire che il nostro ha appena annunciato che i lavori per il nuovo disco solista sono a buon punto, tanto che intende pubblicarlo entro l’anno.
Si parla di una dozzina di canzoni, prodotte da Jake Fior, tra cui “Ends”, “Cuckoo”, “Siberian Fur”, “Darksome Sea”, “Withdrawn And Shaken”. Ci sarà anche la fortunata “For Lovers” che già incise nel 2004 per la versione pubblicata dai Wolfman di Peter Wolfe, di cui rivediamo il video.

I generally dislike love-songs.. or these girl power-thingies you see on MTV (but I guess that’s normal for a guy).
Of the music I actually listen to I’m not particular fond of the workers ethics in classic rock songs.. you know, about the booze and the relationships that don’t really go your way
I also dislike the superficial ‘love for everything’-mumbo jumbo in new age music, it’s so cheesy..
And the gore and porno-themes in some heavy metal.
Politics are also a real turn-off for me. Either I disagree with the views (and thus feel annoyed) or because it’s too down to earth (I prefer fantasy).
My favourite themes are culture & history, mysticism and the occult, fantasy, war, nature, solitude and anger/hatred. Quite the bombastic stuff.
